Bicentennial Club
This was an idea that we started to incorporate a couple years back to encourage EVERYONE to dance with EVERYONE... The basic idea is that you dance with as many different people throughout the weekend as you can. The first year, the goal was 200 (thus Bicentennial), and we had 2 people accomplish the feat. Last year, the goal was still 200, and we had about 15 people hit the goal. Now, we have added a Thursday night dance at the hotel (it was at a bar in the past), so we are actually going to make it harder while simplifying it. Very simply, the person who dances with the MOST different people in the three nights (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) will earn a free pass to Swingtacular FOR LIFE. We thought about changing the name to the Tricentennial Club for this year, because we predict the top prize will more than likely be above 300, but we will let you all get there before a name change. The minimum to earn the pass will still be 200 different people.
Tracking: We have yet to find someone to develop an app that can track this more effectively. If you have an idea, please feel free to let us know. However, we currently assign everyone a number that is specific to them when they check in. We also have blank sheets at the registration desk that you will fill in as you dance with people. When you dance with someone, you take their name and their unique number down. This way we can cross reference your sheets and make sure the numbers are accurate. The staff will also be taking note throughout the weekend to confirm the plausibility of your number. We will err on the side of leniency, but if you are simply writing people's names down without dancing full dances with them, we will probably know.
